Some countries are interesting mostly during festivals, when there are more than enough activities and attractions to keep busy those travelers who are not too interested in sightseeing. However, this is not the case with the UK, where it is practically impossible to be bored even for a second. With so many attractions both natural and artificial, the UK is a tourist magnet all year round. However, things pick up even more in festival season, when a visit to the UK becomes even more exciting than any other time. If you are a fan of huge music festivals or perhaps small quirky local festivals that will make you feel like you belong there, then you should definitely attend one of the many events in the UK. Here are some must-see Spring festivals in the UK that are coming up soon.

Crufts International Dog Show, Birmingham

For four days in March, the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham becomes a furry, yapping chaos of cuteness as the biggest dog show on the planet takes place. Crufts International Dog Show is a puppy-lover’s paradise, as over 20,000 of all shapes, sizes and breeds are displayed and compete for the best awards. Although the show is televised prime time in the UK, buying a ticket to the event will probably get you petting privileges with the contestants as well!

The patron saint of Wales is celebrated each March 1 all over the country, but some of the best and most colorful festivals take place in Swansea. The events begin about a week before March 1, and although they vary each year, most of them involve daffodils (and leeks, sometimes pinned to caps), traditional Welsh costumes, Welsh food and music and dance.

British Asparagus Festival, Vale of Evesham

If you want to participate in a festival that is the essence of true British eccentricity, look no further than the British Asparagus Festival in the Vale of the Evesham, voted one of the best off-beat festivals in the UK several times. The asparagus lovers who organize and participate to the festival celebrate the famous Evesham asparagus, with asparagus auctions, food tastings, cooking demonstrations and all sorts of other fun events that last from April to the end of May.

Even over 400 years after his birth, the Bard still gets some spectacular birthday parties organized in his honor. Although Shakespeare’s birthday is celebrated in many different parts of the country, some of the most elaborate festivals are organized at Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of the writer. There is a fun procession on April 30, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg, because there are tons more Shakespeare themed events for the admirers of Shakespeare’s writings, and most of the events are free.
