Cardiff is one of the top tourist destinations of the UK, of Europe and even of the entire world. In 2008 the city was listed as one of the world’s top 13 destinations. The Welsh capital city is a fantastic place to visit. It is abundant in unique landmarks and tourist attractions. Cardiff Castle, Castell Coch, St. Fagans Castle and Llandaff Cathedral are just some of the most representative and most recognizable landmarks of the city.

Cardiff Festival

Cardiff Festival includes a series of events, including live music, open-air theatre, street theatre, sporting events and children’s entertainment. This amazing festival takes place in the heart of the city and around Cardiff Bay. Unfortunately there are a few events left, as the event started on the 12th of June and lasts until the 7th of September. If you happen to visit Cardiff in the following 2 weeks, you still have the occasion to attend it.

Cardiff Country Fair

The great food festival, the Cardiff Country Fair is a unique time to enjoy cheese, food and beer. This year it will occur on the 28th and 29th of September. The event will take place at Cardiff Castle and will present the best of the Welsh countryside, food and farming. Cheese plays a key role during the festival. If you are interested in Welsh food and traditions, don’t miss this amazing event!

Sparks in the Park

The event named “Sparks in the Park” is actually an annual fireworks display in Cardiff. The event takes place every year on or around Guy Fawkes Night (5th of November), in Bute Park, more precisely behind the fantastic Cardiff Castle. It has been held since 1981 and has become the most important annual Welsh fireworks display. The event attracts about 20.000 people every year.

Made in Roath

This event actually takes place near Cardiff, in Roath. Made in Roath is a fantastic arts festival which takes place every year, in October. It is a recent event of Wales, taking place in Roath since 2009. The festival presents performances, art and music. In 2012 the event was extended, including an event in Cardiff city centre. This year the event will take place between the 17th and 24th of October 2013. (August 2013)

Cardiff Winter Wonderland

A fantastic event offered by the city is the Cardiff Winter Wonderland. It is a fantastic annual 6-weeks festival of which highlight is its huge ice rink. Besides, there are other attractions here, too, including different rides. The festival usually runs from mid-November until the 2nd of January and attracts numerous visitors. There are numerous skating sessions at different times of the day.
