Antrim County occupies the northeastern shore of Northern Ireland. It is a beautiful large county with numerous pretty settlements. There are also several historic monuments and buildings spread all over the county, such as spectacular castles and beautiful churches. Antrim

Being the administrative centre of the county, the town of Antrim is situated on the banks of the river Six Mile Water. It is a magnificent and attractive town. There are numerous landmarks and great attractions here, such as historic buildings. Antrim Castle and Shane’s Castle are just two of the fantastic attractions of the town. Unfortunately, there are only portions left of Antrim Castle, but these, along with the garden are very popular among tourists. The ruined Shane’s Castle is also an attractive site for visitors. Other great attractions of Antrim are the round towers, the Market House, the Masonic hall, the Springfarm Rath and so on.

Carrickfergus

Also known as Carrick, the beautiful town is located on the southeastern shore of the county. It is considered one of the oldest towns in Northern Ireland and is also very popular among tourists. Perhaps its main attraction is the Carrickfergus Castle. It is one of the best preserved castles in Ireland. For strategic purpose the main part of the castle was and still is surrounded by water, making it today more attractive for visitors. There are also other attractions in the town, such as a war memorial in the city centre or the marina complex which is very popular among tourists.

Lisburn

Situated on the River Lagan, Lisburn is a beautiful town with several historic buildings, such as fantastic churches. There are so many churches in Lisburn that you won’t be able to visit them in a couple of days. Lisburn Cathedral is a spectacular building of the city which attracts dozens of visitors. Besides this, there are more than 20 other churches just in the city centre some of which are the St. Patrick’s Church, the Apostolic Church and so on. So, if you like to visit churches, this town is the right choice for you.

Larne

The wonderful town of Larne is also famous for its numerous churches. It is a spectacular seaport town with several places of interest. There are beautiful parks here, fantastic museums, the Olderfleet Castle, the Chaine Memorial Tower. The city also offers great beaches where you can relax. Some of its well-known and beautiful churches are the following: All Saints Church, St. MacNissi’s Church, St. Cedma’s Parish Church which is the oldest church in the town and so on.
